In 1980, Param Pujya Ma and the members of Arpana set out to bring modern medical care to rural people who had none. Forty-five years later, Arpana Hospital is a NABH-accredited, 100-bed charitable multi-specialty institution — and no patient is turned away for inability to pay.

From thirteen beds to a hundred — without leaving the village.
The hospital grew where it was founded. Every department added since has been a response to what patients from the surrounding villages could not otherwise reach: intensive care, surgery, dialysis, and — in 2025 — cardiology, oncology and an eye bank.

On a single day the hospital opened a cardiology department with an advanced cardiac catheterisation laboratory, a dedicated oncology department, an eye bank and a bronchoscopy unit — the largest expansion of clinical capability in its history. An upgraded Level 2 NICU and advanced life-support ambulances followed in the same year.

Reaching beyond hospital walls

The hospital goes to the village before the village comes to the hospital. Camps provide free consultations, free medicines and referral for surgery — with cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination added to general and eye camps this year.

Patient story · Cardiology
Jagdish, 75, reached the cath lab in time.
A retired sugar-mill clerk from Kutail, Jagdish was rushed to the emergency department with chest tightness, breathlessness and high blood pressure. Doctors diagnosed a heart attack and performed an urgent stent procedure in the hospital's newly opened cardiac catheterisation laboratory. His treatment was covered in full under Ayushman Bharat.

Vanshika, 6, saw for the first time.
Blind since birth, Vanshika received a donated cornea from the Arpana Eye Bank and underwent corneal surgery on 12 November 2025. The eye bank — opened only three months earlier — collects, preserves and delivers donated corneas so that surgeries like hers can happen in Madhuban rather than in a distant city.
