Ompati is 74, a widow, and lives with her son, a farmer. The sight in her right eye had gone to a cataract, and the laser procedure she was recommended elsewhere cost more than the household could raise.
At Arpana Hospital, surgeons removed the cataract without it. Her sight was restored. Hers is one of 318 free cataract and eye surgeries performed this year.
